2006 TCA National Convention

The 2006 TCA National Convention was in San Antonio, Texas, a drivable distance from Denver.  Since Denver hosts the National Convention in '07 Kim and I thought we should attend, and observe.  Everybody seemed to have some advice for us about running a convention!

The Convention was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the River Walk.  The last time I was on the San Antonio River Walk was back in 1968 during a family vacation attending the Hemi-Sphere Fair.  The trees have grown a lot in 38 years.  The weather was hot and humid for us Denverites, but the River Walk was shady, breezy and cooler.  The Alamo seemed small but the colorful flowers, unusual birds, good food and Mexican beer were great.

The Convention was friendly, comfortable and well run.  We saw many old friends.  There were few problems, the usual logistical ones.  Only 170 trading tables though, which was a disappointment, and few pre-war and/or German trains.
