Day 2  Fri. ARRIVAL IN ATHENS, GREECE. Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to start exploring the Greek capital. Later meet your tour director and fellow travelers.

Day 3  Sat. ATHENS. Explore the shops and museums or take a trip to the coast to swim. In the afternoon take the optional excursion to romantic Cape Sounion. In the evening enjoy the lively atmosphere of the tavernas and nightclubs in the old Plaka district with the narrow streets and sound of bouzouki music, or join the optional evening out. (B)

Day 4  Sun. ATHENS-KALAMBAKA. Join the included sightseeing tour of Athens featuring the highlights of this ancient capital and a visit to the Acropolis and its fascinating museum. In the afternoon drive north by way of Lamia and Trikala to Kalambaka, situated near the monasteries of Meteora. (B,D)

Day 5  Mon. KALAMBAKA-DELPHI. A short drive to Meteora, which is a cluster of monastic buildings perched in an unforgettable manner on a set of rising rock formations. Later south to Delphi for overnight. (B)

Day 6  Tue. DELPHI-OLYMPIA. Optional morning sightseeing in Delphi. Once called “The Navel of the Earth,” Delphi was the greatest Oracle of the ancient world, where people flocked to seek advice. Now it’s one of the grandest sights in Greece; its theater and Temple of Apollo still stand in their lovely natural setting. Tread the Sacred Way and stop by the Spring of Castalia. This afternoon skirt the Gulf of Corinth on your way to Antirion. Next to Rion, and a few more miles to the port of Patras. Then southwards across the River Pinios to Olympia. (B,D)

Day 7  Wed. OLYMPIA-TOLON. Make the most of this morning by joining the optional sightseeing of the excavations, including the Temple of Zeus. In the afternoon travel across the Peloponnese through fascinating countryside, by way of Tripolis to Tolon. (B,D)

Day 8  Thu. TOLON-MYCENAE-ATHENS. See the impressive site of the ruins of Mycenae with a local guide. After a break to view the Corinth Canal, return to Athens in the afternoon. (B)

Day 9  Fri. ATHENS-SANTORINI. Start the sailing part of the tour by embarking on the six-hour ferry crossing to the island of Santorini, where, as on all islands visited, you overnight in a hotel as listed below. While on board you can enjoy the first-class facilities which include a restaurant, a bar, sun decks and air-conditioned lounge. (B,D)

Day 10  Sat. SANTORINI. The “Black Pearl of the Aegean.” Optional excursions are available. (B,D)

Day 11  Sun. SANTORINI-PAROS. Just a three-hour ferry crossing to the Island of Paros in the very center of the Cyclades Islands. Get acquainted with its white houses, its domed churches, and most famous of all, its windmills. (B,D)

Day 12  Mon. PAROS. A whole day to enjoy the island and its capital, Paros, a maze of narrow winding streets and plenty of shops and fountains, all surrounded by colorful oleanders, bougainvilleas, and hibiscus. Optional island sightseeing. (B,D)

Day 13  Tue. PAROS-MYKONOS. A short two-hour ferry crossing to the island of Mykonos, perhaps the best-known and most fashionable resort of the Cyclades. It was at one time called a “cradle” for sailors and a haven for pirates! (B,D)

Day 14  Wed. MYKONOS. A granite island, the most typical of the Cyclades. Its cubic houses, windmills, and chapels seem to make the island’s light even more translucent. Don’t miss the optional excursion to the island of Delos. In the late afternoon, the farewell tour takes you around the island, finishing in one of Mykonos’ best known tavernas for a final Greek feast. (B)

Day 15  Thu. MYKONOS-ATHENS. Return to Athens with the six-hour ferry crossing. Time for some last-minute shopping and sightseeing on this last evening in Greece. (B)

Day 16  Fri. YOUR HOMEBOUND FLIGHT ARRIVES THE SAME DAY. (B)
